In 2014, a bold dream took shape. Kat and Brent Thompson, a dynamic husband-and-wife team and Kat’s father, David Stevens, founded Texas Ale Project (T.A.P.), becoming the first brewery built from the ground up in Dallas since the 1800s. Their mission was to define the Dallas craft beer scene with award-winning, approachable American beers that reflect the independent spirit of Texas.
Today, Texas Ale Project operates as an independent Veteran-owned brewery with a wide portfolio of craft beverages. Kat sets the vision, while David leads sales and business development, and Brent is the brewmaster who works tirelessly to craft your tasty beverages.
The brewery quickly gained recognition for its hoppy yet smooth IPAs like 100 Million Angels Singing Double IPA and Texas Blood Orange IPA. 50 FT Jackrabbit IPA and Fire Ant Funeral Amber Ale became local favorites, known not just for their bold names but for their exceptional flavor and craftsmanship.
But Texas Ale Project is more than just a brewery—it’s a social hub with a cozy taproom, tree-shaded beer garden, and an assortment of regular activities. It’s a welcoming place where people come together to enjoy great craft beers, non-alcohol beverages, table and lawn games, food, and shared community.
Today, Texas Ale Project stands as a symbol of innovation, resilience, and Texas pride—brewing with heart, heritage, and hops.
